Reduce your risk of needing ellaOne® with regular contraception

Methods of regular contraception

The emergency contraception pill is not a regular method of contraception.

After using the emergency contraception pill it makes good sense to think about what regular contraceptive you are going to use.

If you have had a problem with your usual contraceptive methods, this might be a good time to consider a change of contraception, so you can use a method that suits you better.

You have lots of contraceptive choices: barrier methods, hormonal contraceptive methods, IUD and sterilisation.  Speak to a healthcare professional for advice on the most suitable options for you.

Which one is suitable for you?

Some of these methods may have medical contraindications. For comprehensive information on contraceptive methods, talk to a healthcare professional.

Remember, only condoms protect you from sexually transmitted infections , including HIV. Other methods of contraception do not offer any protection. If you are worried about sexually transmitted infections, talk to a healthcare professional.

There are also several other “natural methods” such as withdrawal and fertility awareness methods (Ogino method, Billings and temperature method). These methods have been shown to be less reliable.
